- In the 50-year journey of construction and development, how do you evaluate Petrovietnam 's contributions to the State budget in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country?
- Looking back at the 50-year journey of formation and development of Petrovietnam, it can be affirmed that the Group has made very important contributions to Vietnam's economic growth, being the key and solid support for the national economy and finance.

Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh emphasized that Petrovietnam's budget contribution remains at a very impressive level, about 8-9% of total state budget revenue and nearly 9% of GDP.
From the early days of hardship, Petrovietnam has grown steadily, becoming one of the leading State-owned economic groups, actively contributing to the creation of the oil and gas value chain, from exploration, exploitation, processing to electricity, gas, renewable energy production and high-quality technical services.
Looking back on the past, it is impossible not to mention the 80s - early 90s of the 20th century, when the country's economy was still facing great difficulties, not yet free from the embargo, still under the centralized planning mechanism, especially with a serious shortage of foreign currency. In that context, the birth and development of the Vietsovpetro Joint Venture not only had strategic significance in terms of energy but also in terms of economy. The first dollars from crude oil exploitation from Bach Ho field contributed to the budget and helped Vietnam solve many important problems such as international debt payment, import of food, medicine, medical equipment, supplies... to serve the industrialization and modernization of the country.
Up to now, the position and role of Petrovietnam still hold great importance. Despite the increasingly large scale of the economy, Petrovietnam's budget contribution remains at a very impressive level, about 8 - 9% of the total state budget revenue and nearly 9% of GDP. In addition to direct figures, Petrovietnam also contributes to the formation of concentrated industrial zones, attracting other businesses to invest, helping many localities fundamentally transform their economic structure, creating a large and stable source of revenue for the budget.
These contributions not only have material significance but also affirm the country's endogenous capacity, enhance Vietnam's stature and position in the international arena, while increasing competitiveness and leading other industries to develop synchronously and modernly.
- Petrovietnam has changed its name to Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group. In addition to its symbolic meaning, this is also an affirmation of its new mission and role. Could you please share your opinion on this issue?
- Renaming Petrovietnam to Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group is not only symbolic but also demonstrates a strategic development in terms of scale, vision and national mission.
Over the past time, Petrovietnam has affirmed its position as a key state economic group, making important contributions and being a pillar in budget collection. These contributions help the country ensure major balances of the economy, maintain macroeconomic stability, maintain trade balance, increase foreign exchange reserves and national competitiveness.
In the coming time, with its new position and mission, it is expected that Petrovietnam will continue to maintain its development momentum, promote its achievements and traditions, especially the high-quality human resources formed throughout the development process. Petrovietnam needs to maintain its pioneering and core role in developing Vietnam's new industrial - energy strategy: From LNG, offshore wind power, hydrogen, green ammonia, to key national projects such as nuclear power - a field that has been approved by the National Assembly with specific mechanisms and policies for implementation.
I believe that, with its tradition and experience, in the coming period, Petrovietnam will continue to be a symbol of national will, aspiration and stature, contributing to Vietnam's steady progress into the era of green, sustainable development and deeper international integration.
- In the context of the country moving towards high growth, green transformation and deep integration, Petrovietnam is expected to play a pioneering role, leading and linking other industries. In your opinion, how should the Group take on this responsibility to improve national competitiveness?
- The designation of the National Energy - Industry Group is not only a symbol but also associated with strategic orientation. This is a step showing the special attention of the Government and the Prime Minister when assigning new responsibilities and tasks to Petrovietnam: both exploiting and inheriting traditions, especially high-quality human resources formed in the process of international cooperation and joint ventures over the past 50 years.

Petrovietnam affirms its position as a key state economic group, a pillar in national budget collection.
With the green development trend and the Government’s Net Zero commitment, Vietnam needs to transform its industry and energy towards green and sustainable direction. That goal places a new mission on Petrovietnam. In addition to the previous core tasks of oil and gas exploration, exploitation and processing, the Group needs to focus strongly on new energy fields.
From its new position and mission, Petrovietnam must assume a core role, leading the formation of industrial zones, clusters, and linked ecosystems, attracting and stimulating domestic and foreign enterprises to participate. Petrovietnam will continue to lead the development of other industries, contributing more and more effectively to the budget collection and the country's growth targets, especially the targets towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the founding of the State.
Thereby, contributing to the realization of the high growth targets expected by the Party and the State: In 2025, achieving a GDP growth rate of over 8% and in the following years striving to achieve over 10%, associated with the application of science and technology, green transformation, and sustainable development. This is an extremely important mission, a great expectation of the Party and the State for Petrovietnam in the coming period.
- Thank you very much, Vice President of the National Assembly!
"Looking back at 50 years of formation and development, Petrovietnam has made extremely important contributions to economic growth, always playing the role of a pillar and a solid support for the national finance in every period. Those contributions are not only material in nature, but also affirm the internal capacity, enhance the stature and position of Vietnam in the international arena, and at the same time increase competitiveness, leading many other industries to develop in a synchronous and modern direction."
