SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

In recent years, Top Management, staffs and labourers of Vietnam National Oil & Gas Group (Petrovietnam) have always been interested in  developing our business activities and contribute to enhance the social security as our  key political tasks. This is one of the cultural characteristics of Petrovietnam as the leading state-owned company and the backbone of the national economy.

Social Security represents humanity, duties of human beings and the society for community and contributes to building a harmonious and civilized society. Basic principles of social security are to ensure unity, sharing and support of the community for the disadvantaged, the risks of life, mutual assistance to grow; and as a result, it helps to enhance the agreement, equality and social justice.

Petrovietnam is always aware of our responsibility to create and bring benefits to the community and society, to make the entire community good.

Petrovietnam’s management and staffs  are always aware of our responsibility for not only their own production and business but also for  the community and society by their mutual affection which is shown via their working(Unclear meaning). With our various experiences and knowledge, we have been continuosly endeavouring to contribute to the social security work. The entire management and staffs have been actively involved in business activities, earning revenues, contributing to charitable funds to support the poor in mountainous areas, borders, islands, and disadvantaged families.

In response to the campaign "Day for the Poor" which is annually launched by the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front and direct implementation of social security programs from 2006 to 2012, Petrovietnam has funded more than VND 2,909 billion, that isequivalent to two thousand nine hundred and nine billion dong, to support the society, including:

- Supporting to build 61,479 houses with a total funding amount of more than VND 503.38 billion contributed byPetrovietnam’s subsidiaries.

- Supporting to build kindergartens, secondary schools, boarding houses for poor students in districts, public houses for teachers in the uplands: 194 works / schools with total funding amount of VND 741 billion.

- Supporting to build hospitals / health care centers and medical facilities for local people: 87 hospitals and health care centers were constructed with total funding amount of VND 264.8 billion

- The Gratitude Program supports the Former Young Volunteers Association, the Vietnam Veterans Association, the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, localities which have faced with natural disasters, and social charity activities with over VND 906.7 billion. Petrovietnam has spent tens of billion dong to look after, encourage and assist wounded soldiers, veterans, former youth volunteers, Vietnamese heroic mothers, victims of Agent Orange and expresses gratitude to those who deserve well of the localities throughout the nation???. The supporting amount excludes the expense to support construction of the House of Great Unity for above mentioned objects via the programs launched by the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front and via Former Young Volunteers Association, Vietnam Veterans Association.

In addition to the above mentioned programs, the Group has spent hundreds of billion dong to support  programs on clean energy, fresh water conversion from salt water for the island people and officers.

It is noted that Petrovietnam has recently created a number of jobs for Vietnamese people,offsprings of former veterans, wounded soldiers, sick people, families of national revolutionary martyrs and other group of people relating to the Group’s operation areas. Creation of jobs is the root to solve problems and help the difficult localities and poor families reduce poverty to approach sustainable development.

Social security work in the petroleum industry: the Group has established "Petrovietnam Mutual Assistance Fund" which is socially meaningful and serve to call for mutual assistance among Petroleum managerment and staffs (including retired officers) in the Group as they face with difficulties, sickness, diseases, and supported to build the House of “Petroleum Gratitude” for retired oil and gas employees who face with difficulties. The Group’s Trade Union has offered gifts to the employees with difficult life on occasion of Tet holidays, visited, organized the New Year party and encouraged those who are working in key works of oil and gas industry in the New Year's Day

In addition, Petrovietnam has been actively supporting social security programs in neighboring countries like Laos and Cambodia as well as  countries which were hugely affected by natural disasters such as Russia and Japan.

The "social security" work of Petrovietnam in recent years have been actively implementing???, meeting requirement on progress, programs and schedules of projects and works under commitments. The social security programs and works are managed, monitored and checked regularly during implementation process and disbursement is implemented strictly and closely under the regulations of the State and the Group to secure and improve living standards of Vietnamese people throughout the country.

In response to the campaign "Day for the Poor" in 2013 launched by the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, Petrovietnam issued the Resolution on assisting social security work of organizations and localities with finance of VND 500 billion. The Group has allocated this amount to its member companies to directly support construction of medical facilities, schools, boarding houses, public houses for local teachers who face with difficult life and people in borders and islands. A part of the charity fund is contributed to the organizations/associations such as the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front and Vietnam Women's Union to support the construction of the House of Great Unity, House of Compassion, and so on..

Social security work is one of the important issues in the development strategy of Petrovietnam. This is an urgent demand of the rapid and sustainable development of the whole society. With the high determination of the Group’s Party Committee, Board of Directors, Management Boardas well as the entire  petroleum workers, Petrovietnam commit to continue to develop and perfect Social Security programs, to support gratitude programs to express gratitude to the martyrs, wounded soldiers, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and the older generations who have dedicated, sacrificed themselves for the independence and liberty of the country. This work is always regarded as the obligations of each Petroleum workers nowadays  as well as the future generations.
