Attending the meeting were Mr. Le Xuan Huyen - Vice President of Petrovietnam; Mr. Bui Ngoc Duong - General Director of Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Joint Stock Company (BSR) and representative leaders of Divisions/ Administration office of the Group.
At the meeting, KBR President Douglas Kelly thanked Petrovietnam’s leaders for their attention and facilitation in recent years so that KBR found out and studied the cooperation opportunities with Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries. KBR leader introduced the overview as well as main activities of KBR. KBR is headquartered in the United States, specializing in providing technology, science and engineering solutions, operating in many different markets and fields, including refining and petrochemical industry.
Overview of the meeting
Previously, in May 2022, Petrovietnam and KBR jointly organized a technology conference on petrochemical refining. At the conference, KBR experts presented and introduced a number of new and advanced technologies in the field of petrochemical refining such as developing other “green” products: green hydrogen, green ammonia… to contribute to speeding up the energy transition. They also included the application of a number of new technologies and technical solutions in Petrovietnam’s projects such as Dung Quat oil refinery upgrading and expansion project; participation in investment and development of Long Son Petrochemical and Energy Complex.
On behalf of the Group’s leaders, Petrovietnam’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Hoang Quoc Vuong welcomed Mr. Douglas Kelly and the KBR’s delegation to visit and work with the Group, and highly appreciated the results of the Technology Conference jointly organized by Petrovietnam and KBR.

On the occasion, Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong shared with KBR leader the overview of Petrovietnam’s activities as well as development strategy in the coming years. In the Group’s development strategy, besides oil and gas exploration and production as the core field, the petrochemical refining, electricity and renewable energy including offshore wind power projects, are the fields that Petrovietnam focuses on developing, ensures the great goal of the Government of Vietnam in implementing the commitment of net-zero emissions by 2030 and conserving the national energy resources by 2045.
For the field of petrochemical refining, Petrovietnam will focus on upgrading and expanding Dung Quat Oil Refinery as well as researching, investing and developing Long Son Petrochemical and Energy Complex project. In order to implement and develop these projects on time, the Group leader wishes to receive the cooperation and coordination of KBR in the field of technology to meet the maximum conditions and ensure efficient operation of plants and projects.

Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong hoped that KBR, Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries would actively exchange information, experience and technology in the implementation and operation of oil refining and petrochemical plants, projects and study cooperation opportunities between the two parties. At the same time, he affirmed the Group’s leaders would create conditions for KBR, Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries to cooperate effectively.
