On the side of Petrovietnam, there was Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong; Vice President Nguyen Tien Dzung, and representatives of the Group’s divisions.

At the meeting, Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong shared with leaders of the two sides about Petrovietnam’s fields of operation as well as Petrovietnam’s operation situation and development strategy in the coming time.

In the Group’s development strategy, besides the oil and gas exploration and production as a core field, the field of electricity and renewable energy is also one of the development orientations of Petrovietnam, as well as one of the major directions of the Government of Vietnam in fulfilling the commitment to net-zero emissions by 2030. In addition, in the draft Power Plan VIII, there will be a capacity of 7GW offshore wind power expected to be developed in the period from now to 2030.

Especially in the context of very strong energy transition, Petrovietnam aims to become a leading energy group in the country and the region, prioritizing the development and expansion of renewable energy sources, sustainable clean energy for the country such as natural gas/ LNG, offshore wind power, hydrogen and green ammonia... contributing to the Government of Vietnam’s goal of fulfilling the net-zero commitment by 2050.

Mr. Per Mjnert Kristensen – President of Ørsted Asia Pacific

As shared by Mr. Per Mejnert Kristensen - President of Ørsted Asia Pacific, Vietnam possesses excellent conditions to develop reliable and cost-competitive offshore wind power projects, of which Petrovietnam and T&T are among the enterprises in Vietnam with the capacity and top advantages to develop the projects. “Ørsted stands ready to build strong and reliable relationships with companies, suppliers, stakeholders and the Government of Vietnam to realize these ambitions. We stand ready to support Vietnamese companies in the journey to optimize the huge opportunities of the domestic and international offshore wind power markets”, said Mr. Per Mejnert Kristensen.

Mr. Sebastian Hald Buhl, Country Manager of Ørsted Vietnam said, “Ørsted is intensifying its efforts to support local partners and suppliers and we are working hard to deploy the first 2 GW in our offshore wind power project portfolio by 2030”.

“We believe that with Ørsted’s global experience and T&T Group and Petrovietnam’s deep understanding of the domestic market, the parties can launch a new high-tech industry in Vietnam, supporting Vietnam to accelerate its modernization”, said Mr. Sebastian Hald Buhl.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh – Deputy General Director of T&T Group, with the advantages of natural conditions and appropriate development strategies and planning, Vietnam will soon become one of the new development centers of the offshore wind power industry, not only meeting the domestic market demand but also aiming for a large market in the international arena. With the potential of Vietnam's renewable energy development goals, especially offshore wind power, as well as the commitment of the Government of Vietnam at COP 26, we believe that in the coming time, the renewable energy industry as well as the supporting industry for renewable energy to serve domestic and export needs is very exciting because of the huge demand.

Welcoming the interest in cooperating with Petrovietnam, Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong proposed that Ørsted and T&T Joint Venture continue to share experiences with Petrovietnam in renewable energy, offshore wind power and hygrogen projects and expressed his desire to promote cooperation between Petrovietnam and the two groups in the development of offshore wind power in the coming time.
