Groundbreaking ceremony for fabricating ZWP12 and ZWP15 jackets under Zawtika 1D field development project.

Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Investor (PTTEP - Thailand), the General Contractor (PTG - Indonesia), the jacket fabrication contractor (Vietsovpetro), the Zawtika Project Management Board and workers on the site. 

 ZWP12 &15 jackets are built at Blocks M9 and M11 in Martaban basin, Myanmar waters at a depth of about 132m and 156m. ZWP12 jacket weighs about 5200 tons, piles weigh 3,600 tons; ZWP15 jacket weighs about 6300 tons, piles weigh 2,200 tons. The fabrication and load-out of 02 jackets is scheduled within 15 months from September 2021 to November 2022. 

Since the beginning of 2020 until now, the Covid-19 pandemic has been very complicated on a global scale, seriously affected all activities of the whole society. The entire process from participating in the preparation of bids for the international bidding package “Fabricating, loading out and fastening jackets and piles of the Zawtika Phase 1D Development Project for PTTEP”, negotiating and winning the bid until now starting construction, Vietnam and Southeast Asian countries are still in the epicenter of the epidemic, most countries in the region are strictly implementing social distancing. 

Receiving the bidding documents for this package during the complicated epidemic period, Vietsovpetro’s Board of Directors was interested in directing the functional parts of the operating apparatus and the construction unit - the Construction and Installation Enterprise of Vietsovpetro, determined to overcome all difficulties and obstacles, prepared bid documents to ensure quality and competitiveness to meet the requirements of the investor and the general contractor when winning the bid. 

Many solutions have been implemented, both to ensure compliance with the requirements of epidemic prevention and control of state management agencies and Vietsovpetro, and to ensure that the project implementation is in accordance with the requirements, quality and schedule such as negotiating and signing contracts, assessing the capacity of equipment, personnel involved in the project, organizing meetings, exchanging work... through the online system; Supplementing the plan for transporting materials by waterway parallel to the plan for transporting by road; Implementing “three on-site activities”, “Protecting green areas” for personnel involved in the project to ensure safety for continuous production; Prioritizing vaccination and Covid-19 testing for personnel involved in project construction; Division of working shifts, groups and teams directly involved in production to ensure not to gather a large number of people on a construction site. 

Facing many difficulties and challenges, while having to complete the main production task of drilling, exploring and exploiting offshore oil and gas fields, Vietsovpetro is still determined to deploy and fabricate ZWP12 &15 jackets in accordance with the contract. The attention and support from the investor, the close coordination between the investor, the main contractor and the sub-contractor are essential to ensure safe and quality production and complete the project on time and efficiently. 

That the Investor (PTTEP) and General Contractor (PTG) approved to award contract for supplying and fabricating ZWP 12 & 15 jackets has proved the capacity, experience, prestige and affirmed position of Vietsovpetro in manufacturing, transporting and launching oil and gas projects, especially deep-water and super-heavy platforms in Vietnam and international markets. On the same day of 8th September 2021, when the Zawtika project was starting, the BK19 topside, which was just finished by Vietsovptro from the site, was also being craned for installation on the BK19 jacket offshore.

The event of ground-breaking and fabricating ZWP12 & 15 jackets is the result of the efforts and determination of Vietsovpetro’s leaders, divisions, executive apparatus and construction team, once again affirming Vietsovpetro’s capacity and right direction in reaching out to the outside service market and to the big sea.
