Overview of the meeting with the Dominican Republic’s delegation
At the meeting, on behalf of the Group’s leaders, member of the Board of Directors Bui Minh Tien welcomed Mr. Mejía Abreu José Miguel - General Secretary of MIU Party, Minister of Regional Integration Policy of the Dominican Republic and the delegation to visit and work with Petrovietnam. Mr. Bui Minh Tien shared an overview of the Group’s activities as well as Petrovietnam’s development strategy for the coming years.
In addition to setting the goal of developing core areas, Petrovietnam is very interested in and focusing on development of renewable energy and offshore wind power projects, ensuring the big goal of the Government of Vietnam in implementing the commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.
On the side of the high-ranking delegation of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Mejía Abreu José Miguel thanked Petrovietnam’s leader for taking the time to receive the delegation. Mr. Mejía Abreu José Miguel highly appreciated Petrovietnam’s role in economic development as well as its important contribution to ensuring the energy security of Vietnam.
Recent exploration results show that there may be oil and gas potential offshore Dominicana and on this visit, Mr. Miguel Mejía brings a message from the President of the Dominican Republic wishing to resume exchanges, inviting Petrovietnam delegation to visit and willing to negotiate the possibility of Petrovietnam’s participation in the field of oil and gas exploration and production and hoping to receive the support and assistance of Petrovietnam to modernize the petrochemical refineries in Dominicana.
On behalf of Petrovietnam’s leaders, Mr. Bui Minh Tien acknowledged the proposal of Mr. Mejía Abreu José Miguel and would assign the Group’s Divisions to study and consider cooperation opportunities in the near future related to the above-mentioned areas.
