PVN Chairman of the Board of Directors Hoang Quoc Vuong receives GS Energy leader

On 3rd August 2022, at the headquarters of Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), Chairman of the Board of Directors Hoang Quoc Vuong had a meeting and worked with Mr. Kim Sung Won, General Director of GS Energy (Korea).

Attending the meeting were Vice President Pham Tien Dzung and representatives of the Divisions and the Administration Office of the Group.

General Director of GS Energy informed and introduced about Long An I and II LNG Power and Gas Project where GS Energy and VinaCapital Investment acted as the Project Developers. The project uses liquefied natural gas (LNG) with a total capacity of 3,000MW, including 2 combined cycle gas turbine plants with a capacity of 1,500MW each. 

To achieve emission reductions, in Korea, GS Energy and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) are collaborating on Blue Ammonia pilot project with the aim that if the project is successful, it will be widely applied to neutralize the rate with coal-fired power projects. Mr. Kim Sung Won wished that GS Energy would have many opportunities to support Petrovietnam as well as the Government of Vietnam in the widespread use of Blue Ammonia. 

On behalf of the Group’s leaders, Chairman of the Board of Directors Hoang Quoc Vuong welcomed Mr. Kim Sung Won and GS Energy’s delegation for visiting and working with the Group, and the Chairman also shared with GS Energy leader on the overview of the Group’s activities as well as the development strategy of Petrovietnam in the coming years.

In the Group’s development strategy, in addition to the core areas, the Group also pays great attention to developing renewable energy and offshore wind power projects, towards the big goals of the Government of Vietnam in implementing its commitment to net zero emissions by 2050.

Chairman Hoang Quoc Vuong hoped that GS Energy, Petrovietnam and subsidiaries would actively exchange information, experience and study cooperation opportunities between the two sides. At the same time, he affirmed the Group’s leaders would create favorable conditions for GS Energy, Petrovietnam and subsidiaries to cooperate effectively.
