Petrovietnam President and CEO Le Manh Hung visits assembly site of Equinor’s Hywind Tampen floating offshore wind power project in Gulen, Norway

In order to implement Petrovietnam’s energy transition strategy, especially to take important steps for the formation and development of the offshore renewable energy industry, from 14th September 2022, Petrovietnam delegation led by President and CEO Le Manh Hung visited and worked with Equinor in Norway. Joining the delegation were member of the Board of Directors Tran Binh Minh, Vice President Pham Tien Dzung, PTSC General Director Le Manh Cuong and representatives of the Group’s Divisions.

As part of the business trip, on 15th September 2022, the delegation visited the assembly site of Equinor’s Hywind Tampen floating offshore wind power project in Gulen, Norway. At the site, the delegation was given an overview of Hywind Tampen floating offshore wind power project by Equinor’s representative and had discussions with Equinor’s experts about the prospects for offshore wind development of Petrovietnam as well as Vietnam. In particular, offshore wind power development is one of the main focuses of Petrovietnam to take advantage of the long coastline and available facilities of Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries, especially PTSC. Difficulties and challenges in terms of policy mechanisms, capital sources, technology… were also discussed with experts in order to find out solutions to be able to deploy offshore wind power projects.

At the end of the meeting, Equinor’s representative expressed his wish to cooperate with Petrovietnam and PTSC in the development of Renewable Energy Projects, especially offshore wind power in Vietnam and was ready to support Petrovietnam and PTSC in terms of technology as well as sharing experiences. President and CEO Le Manh Hung, on behalf of the delegation, expressed his gratitude for the above proposals and hoped that Petrovietnam and Equinor would consider the possibility of comprehensive cooperation in the field of renewable energy and offshore wind in the future.
