Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam, Vu Dao Minh, received and held a working meeting with Mr. Adam M. Tugio, Ambassador of Indonesia to Vietnam.
Ambassador Adam M. In particular, the energy sector has significant potential for businesses from both countries to strengthen connections, seek, and implement cooperation opportunities.
Regarding the export of gas from Indonesia to Vietnam, the two sides discussed the possibility of bringing gas from the field to Vietnam, including considering transportation options and connection to the existing gas infrastructure. Along with technical and commercial issues, the mechanisms and legal framework for the project were also discussed by both sides.
According to Deputy General Director of Petrovietnam Vu Dao Minh, for transnational energy projects, in addition to the exchange and negotiation process between enterprises, building a suitable coordination mechanism between the two governments is crucial, creating a favorable basis for all parties to promote project implementation.
Ambassador Adam M. Tugio stated that Indonesia is ready to engage with relevant agencies to study appropriate mechanisms, while also drawing on the experience of gas infrastructure connectivity projects that Indonesia has implemented with countries in the region. Both sides agreed to continue coordinating and exchanging information to facilitate the project's development.
Besides cooperation in the gas sector, Indonesia also shared several proposals regarding the potential supply of LNG to the Vietnamese market, including LNG sources, transportation facilities, and related services. This is considered a promising area for cooperation, given Vietnam's increasing use of LNG to diversify its energy sources and meet its socio-economic development needs.
