Woodside Group promotes cooperation with Petrovietnam

On 27th February 2020 in Hanoi, PetroVietnam President and CEO Le Manh Hung had a meeting with Mr. Craig Ashton, Vice President in charge of Development of Woodside Group (Australia).

The meeting was attended by representatives from Petroleum Processing and Gas Industry Division, Electricity Division, Administration Division and leaders of PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS), PetroVietnam Power Corporation (PV Power). 

 Petrovietnam President and CEO Le Manh Hung met with Mr. Craig Ashton – Vice President in charge of Development of Woodside Group.

At the meeting, Mr. Craig Ashton informed Petrovietnam leaders about some of Woodside's main activities. Woodside is a large Australian energy group with experience in upstream investment, production and export of LNG in the world (accounting for 6% of total LNG supply worldwide in 2019). Woodside currently owns LNG production plants in Australia such as Northwest Shelf project, Pluto LNG project, Scarborough project and Wheatstone project.

In addition, Woodside supplies LPG and gas products. Woodside wishes to supply LNG to the Vietnamese market and is particularly interested in cooperating with PV GAS in this field.

At the meeting, Petrovietnam President and CEO Le Manh Hung highly appreciated Woodside's experience and capability in energy projects in Vietnam, and welcomed Woodside’s cooperation with Petrovietnam/ PV GAS in investing in LNG infrastructure projects and looking for opportunities to participate in the downstream market in Vietnam. 

 Overview of the meeting

Mr. Le Manh Hung pledged that Petrovietnam would create necessary conditions and supports for Woodside to cooperate and deploy projects effectively and successfully, bringing benefits to the parties involved. At the same time, he hoped that Woodside as well as Australian businesses would promote cooperation with Petrovietnam and its subsidiaries in the near future, contributing to affirming the successful cooperation between the two countries.
